The Indian Head Massage is based on the ancient healing system of Ayurveda. It originated in India over a thousand years ago and began as a way of keeping the hair in good condition.
In Western culture today we spend much of our time in our heads, so this treatment can really help to calm the mind and is surprisingly deeply relaxing. The areas are massaged using firm yet gentle, rhythmic movements that involve acupressure points called Marma points. Ayurvedic oils were traditionally used in this form of massage however the use of oils is now optional.
