Thin, undefined and asymmetric lips can be improved with the use of dermal fillers. Your body then clears the hyaluronic acid over time, with results lasting between 6-9 months after the procedure. There are a few different product options based on age, skin type and desired effect, so it is best to book in for a complementary consultation with Dr. Soliman who can make recommendations on which product would best suit you.
How does the treatment work?
Hyaluronic acid is the active ingredient contained within temporary lip fillers, and can be injected into the lips to enhance contour and definition, plump out lines and wrinkles to restore a more youthful look. It can also be used to enhance volume resulting in fuller looking lips. The filler, once injected, holds on to water molecules and expands, hence providing a ‘plumping’ effect.
How long does it last?
The Hyaluronic acid is cleared from your system by your body’s natural immune defences, so the duration is different between individuals. In rare cases, it can last two months, whereas for most people, the results are seen for up to between four and six months.
What is involved and what are the side effects?
Before the procedure is conducted, a numbing cream is applied to your lips to help ease the discomfort of the needle. The treatment is safe and quick with only mild discomfort felt. Some people may experience swelling, and slight discomfort afterwards, but these are transient side effects and will rarely last beyond two days. The use of ice and a mild analgesic is sometimes required after the treatment.
