As we age, we tend to lose tissue volume in the face, which can lead to a sunken, sagging or drooping appearance. This loss of volume can leave the face looking unbalanced, with the jowls and cheek links becoming deeper and more noticeable. Dermal fillers can restore this volume and structure to the face, plumping out any lines or hollowness leading to a more youthful appearance.
What treatment options are available?
There are a few types of temporary dermal fillers available, and Dr. Soliman can made a recommendation on which particular type will be the best to treat your concerns. The products differ in their density, overall look and duration of action, and he will guide you to select the one that is right for you.
How does it work and how long does it last?
The dermal fillers contain the active ingredient Hyaluronic Acid which is a molecule hailed for its ability to retain water (moisture) which is important, as we tend to lose moisture with age, and a lack of moisture in the skin can lead to premature ageing. The product is cleared by your body’s innate defense mechanisms, and thus the exact duration of action differs between individuals based on their age, skin type, and the type of filler used. Results will generally last between six to twelve months.
What is involved and what are the side effects?
Through a series of small injections, the product is expertly placed into the deep lines and sunken areas of the face, where it will retain water and swell, leading to a plump and fuller look. The use of a local anaesthetic cream helps with the pain and discomfort felt during the procedure. Some people may experience slight swelling and bruising for up to two days after the procedure, but there are no other clinically significant side effects seen.
